INTERNATIONAL
BATTERY RECYCLING CONGRESS
The forthcoming
International Battery Recycling Congress 200,to be held in Lugano,Switzerland,on
June 18-20,will focus on legislation affecting different schemes for collecting
and recycling spent batteries and accumulators.
Other topics to be covered during the event include:rules relating to battery
producton and producer liability;design for recycling;technology and market
trends;new approaches to 'multi-lifecycle engineering';the impact of recent
legislation on batteries and Waste Electrical &Electronics Equipment (WEEE);an
update on the EU's WEEE,RoHS and battery directives; a review of practical
industry concerns;separation of batteries from WEEE;collection and recycling
of spent rechargeable batteries;Ni-Cd,NiMH and lead battery applications and
market data;country reports relating to battery recycling including national
laws and new regulations regarding collection,recycling and financing; best
available technologies and processes for the recycling of primary and secondary
sells;data on waste streams;economic principles and financing systems for
the whole recycling loop;take-back of used batteries by retailers,importers
and OEMs;market and recycling challenges for new technologies; and recycling
of lithium batteries.
The congress is being organised by Switzerland-based ICM in conjunction with
electronics and electrical industry associations,as well as battery collection
and recycling organizations in Europe,Japan and the U.S.A. All papers will
be presented in English.
