SLIGHT INCREASE IN EU ALUMINIUM CAN RECYCLING
According to the European Aluminium Association (EAA), aluminium can recycling in Western Europe rose by two percentage points from 43 to 45% in 2001 - a similar increase to the previous year.In the U.K., an effective voluntary can collection system showed goods results with a 42% collection and recycling figure. The highest recycling rate was achieved by Switzerland (91%) and the lowest by Spain (20%). In 2001, nearly 38 billion cans were sold into the European beverage can market -up 7.1% on the previous year.
